Isvak
Game presentation:
Isvak is a dystopic game, set during the next ice age. The current world is above the ice, and the old world is under it. But there are cracks in the ice, where the player can move between the two worlds. The player is a relic hunter, who collects and trades findings with the pursuit of escaping the frozen wasteland.
My role:
I had several roles in this project: first and foremost, I was a level designer. I built the entire settlement and environment above the ice and helped another level designer build the underwater area.
I single-handedly scripted and created the entire opening cutscene for the game and wrote much of the narrative. The description of the history of the world and the clues of where to go next were done in the form of books and torn notes to give the player a sense of times gone by.
I also implemented and tweaked the audio of the game. My vision was to have fairly somber music above the ice, where there are more people, and contrast it with the feeling of exposure and loneliness under the ice. Underwater, I added more bass to the sound to give the player a sense of underwater pressure.
In addition, I created and scripted the UI for when the player picks up items. I also added and programmed all the character animations and some of the environment animations.
